Patient Reports Purse Stolen; Indictments Sought Against Suspect
Indictments are being sought against a Lawrenceburg woman accused of stealing a hospital patient’s purse, then making fraudulent purchases using the victim’s bank account.
A press release issued through the Lawrenceburg Police Department shows that indictments are being sought against thirty-four year old Shannon Nicole Alexander.
Authorities indicate that Alexander was identified as a suspect when a patient at Crockett Hospital reported on December 13, 2012 that her purse had been stolen from her room.
During the investigation, officers were alerted to the fact that someone had attempted to use the victim’s credit card at a Lawrenceburg business. In addition, they learned that signatures had been forged on a number of checks written against the victim’s bank account.
Officials report that evidence against Alexander will be presented to an upcoming session of the Lawrence County Grand Jury as detectives seek indictments, charging her with the one count of theft, two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, and seven counts of forgery.
